1. TO PROMOTE IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE THE EFFICIENCY OF THE REGIMENT AND TO MAINTAIN AND PRESERVE ITS TRADITIONS. 2. TO KEEP ALIVE THE SPIRIT OF THE REGIMENT AND TO MAINTAIN FRIENDSHIPS AND COMRADESHIP BETWEEN PAST AND PRESENT MEMBERS OF THE REGIMENT 3. TO RELIEVE, THROUGH THE MERCIAN REGIMENT, SERVING AND RETIRED MEMBERS OF THE REGIMENT OR THE ASSOCIATION AND THEIR DEPENDANTS WHO ARE IN CONDITIONS OF NEED HARDSHIP OR DISTRESS. 4. THE COMMEMORATION AND REMEMBRANCE OF THOSE MEMBERS OF THE 22ND (CHESHIRE) REGIMENT WHO HAVE DIED WHILST ON ACTIVE SERVICE; AND THE ENCOURAGEMENT OF PUBLIC RECOGNITION OF THE SACRIFICE MADE BY SUCH PERSONS.
