Where our data comes from

The Governance Register is built on public records: the Charity Commission register and Companies House (Free Company Data and the PSC register), both under the Open Government Licence, and information published on charities' own public websites.

Contact information

For some charities we hold contact details (email addresses, and where a public source identifies them, a role) that were published on the charity's own website or appear in the public registers. These are used only to help people reach charities and understand the sector, and are not shown on public pages.

Our lawful basis for processing this limited business-contact information is legitimate interest.

Opt out of contact through this platform

If you do not want your email address shown to users of this platform for outreach, opt out below. We will stop displaying that address anywhere on this platform, and it stays suppressed across future updates.

This covers what we control - contact through this platform. It does not remove you from the public Charity Commission or Companies House registers (where trustee and officer names are published); to change those you would need to contact those bodies directly.
