Methodology

How the record is built

A plain summary first, then the detail. Edition compiled 13th September 2026.

In brief

  1. We load the official registers in full, on each register's own schedule.
  2. We match records that belong to the same person only where the evidence confirms it.
  3. We connect people through the organisations whose boards they share, using the dates in the records.
  4. We label everything: official record, added by a person or organisation, or calculated by us.

Definitions

Served alongside
Both people were recorded on the same governing body during overlapping dates.
Wider network
People and organisations reached through additional recorded board links. It does not mean you personally know them.
Recorded path
A chain of recorded board links between two people or organisations.
Participating leaders
Current leaders of an organisation who have chosen to contribute their reach to its Our Network workspace.
Can ask for help
A route where a participating leader has also chosen to receive help requests.
Changes to saved records
When you save a person or organisation, we keep its last confirmed state and compare it as source data is updated. We show a change only when it alters something useful: a new or ended route, whether someone can be asked for help, or a saved person's recorded roles. It is not real-time and only covers the records we hold. If a source looks incomplete, we wait rather than report a change.

Holdings in this edition

18,729,588 officer appointment records; 9,492,252 people after identity resolution; 170,407 registered charities; 833,196 charity trustee records; 5,689,368 companies. Counts describe the record as held, not live filings.

Limits

Charity trustee lists are a current snapshot, so historical charity service may be incomplete. Coverage outside the United Kingdom depends on what each register publishes. No record is generated by AI and no role is self-declared into the official record.
