THE OBJECT (PURPOSE) OF ACORN CHAPLAINCY IS TO RELIEVE PERSONS IN NEED AND HARDSHIP BY REASON OF ADDICTION, THROUGH:1. PROVISION OF PASTORAL CARE AND SUPPORT SERVICES ACCORDING TO CHRISTIAN ETHOS AND SPIRITUALITY, SO THAT PERSONS SUFFERING FROM ADDICTION ARE ENCOURAGED AND BETTER EQUIPPED TO LIVE HEALTHIER LIVES, TO GROW IN CONFIDENCE AND TO HAVE THE HOPE OF REACHING THEIR FULL POTENTIAL OF A CREATIVE AND EMPOWERED LIFE. 2. TRAINING AND INFORMING VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF THAT THEY ARE EQUIPPED TO EFFECTUALLY WORK WITH PERSONS SUFFERING WITH ADDICTION AND TO BE THEIR ADVOCATES SO THAT BENEFICIARIES CAN SHARE THE REWARDS OF GAINING SOBRIETY WITH THEIR CONTACTS AND LOCAL COMMUNITIES SO THAT THEY CAN BENEFIT TOO. 3. TO REACH OUT AND INFORM PEOPLE OF THE DANGERS AND HARM OF ADDICTIONS WHETHER RELATED TO SUBSTANCE MISUSE OR COMPULSIVE BEHAVIOURS.
