THE PURPOSE OF THE ‘WHAT WOULD MIA DO TRUST’ IS THE ADVANCEMENT OF AMATEUR SPORT AND FOR YOUNG PEOPLE BETWEEN 5 AND 18 YEARS OF AGE AT THE DATE OF APPLICATION RESIDENT IN ENGLAND OR WALES.THIS PURPOSE WILL BE ACHIEVED THROUGH THE PROVISION OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO HELP LESS PRIVILEGED YOUNG PEOPLE PARTICIPATE IN SPORT*, IN THE FORMAT OF GRANTS OR AS THE LOAN OF EQUIPMENT PURCHASED AND OWNED BY THE TRUST.GRANTS WILL BE AWARDED AT THE DISCRETION OF TRUSTEES FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING: EQUIPMENT, MEMBERSHIP FEES, SUBSCRIPTION FEES, ENTRY FEES AND TRAVEL COSTS.IN MOST CASES APPLICANTS WILL SPEND THE GRANT AND WILL THEN OWN THE EQUIPMENT. IN SOME CASES, THE TRUSTEE MAY CHOOSE TO PURCHASE AND LOAN EQUIPMENT, FOR EXAMPLE IF A SPORT IS BEING STARTED AND ONGOING COMMITMENT IS NOT CONFIRMED. WITH THE AGREEMENT OF THE TRUSTEES, SUCH EQUIPMENT MAY SUBSEQUENTLY OWNED BY THE APPLICANT, FOR EXAMPLE, IF THE SPORT IS CONTINUES TO BE PURSUED, OR RETURNED TO THE TRUSTEE TO BE REDISTRIBUTED, SOLD OR DISPOSED OF.*’LESS PRIVILEGED’ IS CONSIDERED AS WHERE, WITHOUT SUCH SUPPORT, THE YOUNG PERSON WOULD BE UNABLE TO REALISTICALLY PARTICIPATE IN THEIR CHOSEN SPORT.
