THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO (THE “OBJECTS”) ARE TO RAISE AND MAINTAIN, BY DONATIONS AND VOLUNTARY SUBSCRIPTIONS, A FUND WHICH SHALL BE DEVOTED TO THE RELIEF OF:(A) PERSONS WHO ARE MEMBERS OR FORMER MEMBERS, OR CURRENT OR FORMER PERMANENT EMPLOYEES OF MORE THAN TWO YEARS’ STANDING, OF THE INSTITUTE OF MATERIALS, MINERALS AND MINING OR OF BODIES WHICH HAVE MERGED WITH, OR BEEN ABSORBED BY, THE INSTITUTE, WHETHER BEFORE THE DATE OF THIS DEED OR OTHERWISE (“ABSORBED BODIES”), OR OF BODIES WHICH WERE ABSORBED BY SUCH ABSORBEDBODIES; AND(B) THE SPOUSES, WIDOWS, WIDOWERS, PARENTS, CHILDREN, GRANDCHILDREN, OR DEPENDANTS, OF THOSE NAMED IN (A) ABOVE, WHETHER SUCH PERSONS ARE ALIVE OR DECEASED, WHO ARE NECESSITOUS BY REASON OF DEATH, ILLNESS, REDUCED CIRCUMSTANCES OR SOCIAL DISTRESS, AND TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO THE SAID PERSONS IN THE FORM OF PERSONAL CONTACTS, ADVICE AND SUCH FINANCIAL DISBURSEMENTS AS THE BOARD DEEMS APPROPRIATE.
