THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE TO PROMOTE AND ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC, AND IN PARTICULAR MEMBERS OF THE ROYAL NAVY AND WIDER MARITIME COMMUNITY, OF THE SIGNIFICANCE OF BRITANNIA ROYAL NAVAL COLLEGE (BRNC), TO BRITAIN'S NAVAL AND MARITIME HERITAGE, A KEY ELEMENT IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL AND NATIONAL HISTORY, CULTURE, INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND NATIONAL IDENTITY, IN SUCH WAYS AS THE CHARITY TRUSTEES THINK FIT FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC, AND IN PARTICULAR (BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY) BY:(A) THE ESTABLISHMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF A MUSEUM (THE BRITANNIA MUSEUM) WITH A PHYSICAL AND ONLINE PRESENCE; (B) THE DOCUMENTATION AND CURATION OF THE MUSEUM COLLECTIONS AND ARTEFACTS IN LINE WITH MUSEUM SECTOR STANDARDS, FOR EXAMPLE THE UK MUSEUM ACCREDITATION SCHEME AND SPECTRUM: THE UK COLLECTION MANAGEMENT STANDARD;(C) THE EXHIBITION AND INTERPRETATION OF THE MUSEUM COLLECTIONS AND ARTEFACTS;(D) THE PROMOTION OF STUDY AND RESEARCH IN SUCH SUBJECTS, AND THE PUBLICATION OF THE USEFUL RESULTS;(E) PROMOTE AND FACILITATE THE PUBLICS ACCESS TO AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE BUILDINGS, THEIR HISTORY AND THE MUSEUMS COLLECTIONS;(F) MAINTAIN BRNC AS A VITAL AND ESSENTIAL PART OF LOCAL AND NATIONAL MARITIME HISTORY AS WELL AS BEING INTEGRAL TO THE TRADITION AND ETHOS OF THE COLLEGE AND ITS MISSION TO TRAIN AND EDUCATE FUTURE NAVAL OFFICERS, WITH THE ASPIRATION TO;(G) PRESERVE, RESTORE, CONSERVE AND REPAIR THE HERITAGE BUILDINGS OF BRNC DARTMOUTH FOR THE BENEFIT OF CURRENT AND FUTURE GENERATIONS.
