THE CHARITY’S OBJECTS ARE:TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC BY THE PROMOTION, SUPPORT, ASSISTANCE AND IMPROVEMENT OF CLIFTON LIBRARY AND ITS BUILDING AND THE LIBRARY SERVICE IN GENERAL. TO PROMOTE THE RANGE OF ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT BY THE FRIENDS OF CLIFTON CENTRE AND LIBRARY. THE OBJECTS WILL BE ACHIEVED, IN PARTICULAR BY:1. SUPPORTING THE RETENTION AND MAINTENANCE OF CLIFTON LIBRARY, WITH ADEQUATE PROFESSIONAL STAFF AND APPROPRIATE OPENING HOURS FOR THE COMMUNITY SERVED, AND OFFERING THE WIDEST POSSIBLE RANGE OF BOOKS, NEWSPAPERS, MAGAZINES AND OTHER MATERIALS IN AUDIO, VISUAL AND ELECTRONIC FORMATS;2. FACILITATING OPPORTUNITIES FOR VOLUNTEERING, ENABLING A SOCIAL HUB FOR EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY AND WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OTHER LOCAL GROUPS, SCHOOLS AND ORGANISATIONS;3. SEEKING TO ENSURE THE CONTINUING AVAILABILITY OF ACCESS TO COUNCIL SERVICES AND INFORMATION AT THE LIBRARY;4. ACTIVELY PROMOTING CLIFTON LIBRARY AND THE SERVICES IT PROVIDES TO THE WIDER COMMUNITY;5. DEVELOPING A PROGRAMME OF ACTIVITIES TO BE CARRIED OUT BY THE FRIENDS OF CLIFTON CENTRE AND LIBRARY SUCH AS THE CLIFTON LITFEST;6. FACILITATING LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES AND SOCIAL ACTIVITIES IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY.
