THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE THE ADVANCEMENT OF HEALTH AND RELIEF AND PREVENTION OF SICKNESS AND SUFFERING AMONG PEOPLE AFFECTED BY MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS (MHDS) IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY:(1) ADVANCING EDUCATION ABOUT MHDS FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT (PRIMARILY BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY USING FILM OR OTHER AUDIO VISUAL OR AUDIO MEDIA WHETHER DISSEMINATED PHYSICALLY OR THROUGH THE INTERNET OR BY ANY OTHER METHOD WHATSOEVER AND ALSO BY USING WEBSITES OR ANY OTHER METHODS AVAILABLE THROUGH THE INTERNET AND ALSO BY HOLDING TRAINING SESSIONS AND CONFERENCES) PRIMARILY BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY FOR THOSE WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CARE AND WELL-BEING OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO FAMILY MEMBERS, TEACHERS, HEALTH PROFESSIONALS, CARERS AND SOCIAL WORKERS TO ENABLE THEM: (A) TO DEVELOP AND IMPROVE THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF MHDS;(B) TO DEVELOP AND IMPROVE THEIR ABILITY TO RECOGNISE SYMPTOMS OF MHDS; (C) TO BE INFORMED ABOUT HOW TO OBTAIN PROFESSIONAL DIAGNOSIS OF A SUSPECTED MHD;(D) TO DEVELOP AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE AVAILABLE TREATMENTS; (E) IN THE CASE OF THOSE WHO ARE INVOLVED IN THE CARE AND WELL-BEING OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE BUT WHO ARE NOT THEMSELVES THE FAMILY MEMBERS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAY TO DAY CARE OF THAT CHILD OR YOUNG PERSON, TO DEVELOP AN UNDERSTANDING AS TO HOW THEY MAY BEST RAISE WITH THE FAMILY MEMBERS WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAY TO DAY CARE THEIR CONCERNS ABOUT A SUSPECTED MHD AND HOW THEY MAY BEST ENCOURAGE THOSE FAMILY MEMBERS TO SEEK A PROFESSIONAL DIAGNOSIS AND ADVICE;(2) PROVIDING INFORMATION ABOUT MHDS TO FAMILY MEMBERS, TEACHERS, HEALTH PROFESSIONALS, CARERS AND SOCIAL WORKERS AND OTHERS WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CARE AND WELL-BEING OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE;(3) CAMPAIGNING TO ENCOURAGE THE GOVERNMENT, MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT AND HEALTH AUTHORITIES TO DO MORE TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THE IMPORTANCE OF EARLY RECOGNITION OF MHDS BY THOSE WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CARE AND WELL-BEING OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO FAMILY MEMBERS, TEACHERS, HEALTH PROFESSIONALS, CARERS AND SOCIAL WORKERS.
