TO ACT AS A RESOURCE FOR D/DEAF AND HEARING YOUNG ADULTS (UP TO 30 YEARS OLD), CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE, CODA’S (CHILDREN OF DEAF ADULTS), FAMILY MEMBERS, FRIENDS AND PEERS BY PROVIDING ADVICE ANDASSISTANCE AND ORGANISING PROGRAMMES OF PHYSICAL, EDUCATIONAL AND OTHER ACTIVITIES AS A MEANS OF:(A) ADVANCING EDUCATION;(B) RELIEVING UNEMPLOYMENT;(C) PROVIDING RECREATIONAL AND LEISURE TIME ACTIVITY IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE FOR PEOPLE LIVING IN THE AREA OF BENEFIT WHO HAVE NEED BY REASON OF THEIR YOUTH, AGE, INFIRMITY OR DISABILITY, POVERTY OR SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC CIRCUMSTANCES WITH A VIEW TO IMPROVING THE CONDITIONS OF LIFE OF SUCH PERSONS. THE WORD β€œDEAF” (WITH A CAPITAL D) IS USED TO DESCRIBE AN INDIVIDUAL WHOSE FIRST OR PREFERRED METHOD OF COMMUNICATION IS BRITISH SIGN LANGUAGE (BSL), WHILE THE TERM D/DEAF – NOW WIDELY RECOGNISED BY CARE SERVICE PROFESSIONALS – REFERS TO EVERYONE WITH A HEARING LOSS: DEAF, DEAF, DEAFBLIND, HARD-OF-HEARING AND DEAFBLIND PEOPLE
