The objects for which the Association is established are, for the public benefit: 1. to advance and promote the study and general knowledge of hand therapy to members of the public and professionals involved in the management of the upper limb by encouraging equality and high standards of assessment and rehabilitation of the upper limb nationally and internationally; 2. to support sharing of information, including research activity, in order to promote high standards of care in the assessment and rehabilitation of the upper limb. (together, the ?Objects?). In furtherance of the Objects (but not otherwise) the Association may (without limitation): ? promote interdisciplinary cooperation and education between medical professionals involved in the treatment of the upper limb; ? promote and encourage participation in continuing education for those involved in the assessment and rehabilitation of the upper limb, including through conferences, study days and other educational courses; ? provide guidance, funding opportunities, and expert assistance to participate in research at local, national and international levels; ? provide a forum for discussion of matters relevant to the treatment of upper limb; ? disseminate information relating to assessment and rehabilitation of the upper limb through the Association website, conferences, courses; ? and by appropriate means cooperate with other professional groups whose purposes are compatible with those of the Association including, but not limited to, the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP), The Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT), The British Society of Surgery of the Hand (BSSH), in relation to matters pertaining to the Objects.
