THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION BY THE PROVISION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE EITHER CAPITAL OR INCOME, TO ANY PERSON IN PURSUIT OF FURTHER OR HIGHER EDUCATION, WHETHER IN THE UNITED KINGDOM OR ABROAD, SUCH PERSON TO HAVE AN AGE NOT EXCEEDING 21 YEARS AT THE TIME OF RECEIVING HIS OR HER AWARD FROM THIS TRUST WHO HAS BEEN RESIDENT IN THE ANCIENT PARISH OF TRING (COMPRISING THE TOWN OF TRING AND THE VILLAGES OF LONG MARSTON, WILSTONE AND PUTTENHAM) AND THE ADJACENT VILLAGES OF WIGGINGTON, ALDBURY, MARSWORTH AND PITSTONE DURING THE WHOLE OF THE PREVIOUS THREE YEARS EXCEPT FOR ABSENCE FOR STUDY AND WHO (ON ACCOUNT OF POVERTY) COULD NOT PURSUE A COURSE OF STUDY WITHOUT SUCH ASSISTANCE. SUCH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE SHALL BE INTENDED TO MEET:-(A) THE FEES OF ANY FURTHER OR HIGHER EDUCATIONAL ESTABLISHMENT AT WHICH SUCH STUDENTS MAY BE STUDYING OR PROPOSING TO STUDY; AND/OR (B) THE PURCHASE OF BOOKS, EQUIPMENT, CLOTHING, ACCOMMODATION OR TRAVEL EXPENSES TO ENABLE SUCH STUDENTS TO PURSUE A COURSE OF STUDY AT A FURTHER OR HIGHER EDUCATIONAL ESTABLISHMENT PROVIDED ALWAYS THAT THE TRUSTEES SHALL HAVE A DISCRETION TO MAKE AWARDS FOR EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS TO SUCH PERSONS BEFORE AND DURING THEIR COURSE OF STUDY WHICH IN THEIR VIEW WILL CONTRIBUTE TO OR ENHANCE THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE SAME.
