KEEPING IN MEMORY THE SERVICES OF THE SOLDIERS AND SAILORS OF THE SHOTLEY BRIDGE RECOGNITION AREA WHO SERVED IN THE GREAT WAR AND WITH A VIEW THERETO TO HELP IN PROVIDING FOR THE NEEDS OF DISABLED SOLDIERS SAILORS AND OTHER EX-SERVICEMEN AND THEIR WIVES CHILDREN AND DEPENDANTS WHO SHALL HAVE BEEN RESIDENT IN THE SAID AREA AT ANY TIME DURING THE PERIOD OF THE GREAT WAR AND FAILING SUCH ANY DESERVING POOR OR OLD AGE PENSIONERS OF OTHER PERSONS WHETHER RESIDENT OR NOT WITHIN THE SAID AREA AS THE TRUSTEES SHALL IN THEIR ABSOLUTE DISCRETION CONSIDER ELIGIBLE.
