Charitable objects

(1) THE OBJECTS OF THE TRUST ARE TO RELIEVE POVERTY, ADVANCE EDUCATION AND TRAINING AND PROMOTE OTHER CHARITABLE PURPOSES BENEFICIAL TO THE COMMUNITY. THE OBJECTS ARE TO BE CARRIED OUT ONLY BY AWARDING GRANTS OF MONEY TO, AND PROVIDING SERVICES, FACILITIES AND OTHER FORMS OF ASSISTANCE FOR, INDIVIDUALS RESIDENT IN APPROVED TERRITORIES BY THE METHODS SET OUT IN THE FOLLOWING SUB-CLAUSE.(2) EVERY AWARD MUST BE MADE FOR THE IMMEDIATE PURPOSE OF ENABLING THE RECIPIENT TO (A) OBTAIN BOOKS, TOOLS OR OTHER EQUIPMENT; OR (B) UNDERTAKE TRAINING OR STUDY; OR (C) OTHERWISE EQUIP OR ENABLE HIM/HERSELF TO ENGAGE IN A TRADE, PROFESSION, VOCATION OR OTHER OCCUPATION PROVIDED THAT THE TRUSTEE REASONABLY CONSIDERS THAT THE AWARD WILL ASSIST THE RECIPIENT BOTH TO: (I) EARN HIS/HER OWN LIVING OR IMPROVE THE CONDITIONS OF LIFE OF HIM/HERSELF OR OTHERS; AND TO (II) CONTRIBUTE TO THE WELL-BEING OF SOCIETY BY THE IMPLEMENTATION OF, OR PARTICIPATION IN, A PROJECT WHICH PROVIDES A DISCERNIBLE BENEFIT TO THE PUBLIC OR A SECTION OF THE PUBLIC.
