TO PROMOTE MAINTAIN IMPROVE AND ADVANCE EDUCATION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY ENCOURAGING AND STIMULATING PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING AND APPRECIATION OF THE HISTORY, LITERATURE, LANGUAGES, ART, MUSIC, ENGRAVED AND MEDALLIC ICONOGRAPHY OF THE JACOBITES AND THE EFFECTS OF THE DIASPORA. JACOBITE(S) AND JACOBITISM SHALL FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE CHARITY BE TAKEN TO REFER TO THE STUART DYNASTY IN THE BRITISH ISLES AND IN EXILE FROM THE DEPARTURE OF JAMES II IN 1688 TO THE DEATH OF HENRY BENEDICT STUART IN 1807, THEIR FRIEND AND SUPPORTERS, THEIR ACTIVITIES, THEIR VIEWS, IDEOLOGIES, ARTEFACTS AND WORKS OF ART; AND THE POLITICAL, DIPLOMATIC, MILITARY, RELIGIOUS, INTELLECTUAL AND CULTURAL CONTEXT IN WHICH THEY LIVED. IN CASE OF DOUBT AS TO WHETHER A PROPOSED ACTIVITY OF THE CHARITY FALLS WITHIN THIS FIELD, THE DECISION OF THE TRUSTEES SHALL BE FINAL.
