3.1 TO ADVANCE AND PROMOTE ENGINEERING IN THE UNITED KINGDOM AND AROUND THE WORLD, INCLUDING BY PROMOTING RESEARCH IN THE FIELD OF ENGINEERING AND THE DISSEMINATION AND APPLICATION OF THE RESULTS OF SUCH RESEARCH FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC AND BY ENCOURAGING YOUNG PEOPLE (AND IN PARTICULAR YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE UNITED KINGDOM) TO ASPIRE TO A CAREER IN ENGINEERING; AND3.2 TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE SUBJECT OF ENGINEERING;BY ESTABLISHING, AWARDING AND PROMOTING A HIGH-PROFILE AND INTERNATIONALLY-RECOGNISED PRIZE FOR ENGINEERING TO BE KNOWN AS "THE QUEEN ELIZABETH PRIZE FOR ENGINEERING" AND TO BE AWARDED TO AN INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP OF INDIVIDUALS RESPONSIBLE FOR A GROUND-BREAKING ADVANCE IN ENGINEERING WHICH HAS CREATED SIGNIFICANT INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC BENEFIT.
