1. TO PROMOTE SOCIAL INCLUSION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT AMONGST HEARING IMPAIRED PEOPLE AND THEIR FAMILIES BY HELPING HEARING IMPAIRED PEOPLE IN THE EAST MIDLANDS AREA LEARN LIP-READING AND OTHER SKILLS WHICH HELP THEM PARTICIPATE MORE FULLY IN SOCIAL SITUATIONS AND/OR EMPLOYMENT.2. THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE EDUCATION OF HEARING IMPAIRED PEOPLE BY PROVIDING AND ASSISTING IN THE PROVISION OF CLASSES IN LIP-READING AND OTHER COMMUNICATION TECHNIQUES.WE WILL ACHIEVE THESE OBJECTIVES IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY:(I) PROVIDING LIP-READING CLASSES THAT ENABLE HEARING IMPAIRED PEOPLE TO COMMUNICATE MORE EASILY WITH A WIDER RANGE OF INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS.(II) FACILITATING THE TRAINING OF LIP-READING TUTORS TO INCREASE THE AVAILABILITY OF LIP READING CLASSES TO HEARING IMPAIRED PEOPLE LIVING IN THE EAST MIDLANDS.(III) INVESTIGATING IMPROVED METHODS OF LEARNING LIP-READING BY WORKING WITH SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS AND TRIALLING COMPUTER BASED METHODS OF LEARNING LIP-READING AS AN ADJUNCT TO CONVENTIONAL FACE-TO-FACE CLASS LEARNING AND FOR THOSE FOR WHOM CONVENTIONAL CLASSES ARE UNAVAILABLE OR INACCESSIBLE.(IV) PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR HEARING IMPAIRED PEOPLE TO GET TOGETHER TO EXCHANGE EXPERIENCES OF COMMUNICATION PROBLEMS AND TO SOCIALISE GENERALLY – FOR EXAMPLE OUTINGS AND 'TEA AND CHAT'.
