Charitable objects

The objects of the CIO areTo advance for the public benefit education in the United Kingdom by in particular but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing:-1 establishing, maintaining, carrying on, managing and developing a school which shall offer a broad and balanced curriculum and shall be conducted in accordance with the principles, practices and tenets of the Catholic Church and having regard to any advice issued by the Diocesan Bishop; 2 meeting the special educational and care needs of pupils aged between 9 and 19 who because of social emotional and mental health challenges (SEMH) have been unable to cope in mainstream education and other special educational establishments;3 to provide educational facilities and services to students of all ages and the wider community for the public benefit; and4 to carry out research into the development and application of new techniques in education in particular in relation to the areas of curricular specialisation of the CIO and to its approach to curriculum development, delivery and to publish the results of research and to develop means of benefiting from application of the experience of industry, commerce or other schools in the voluntary sector to the educations of pupils in schoolsNothing in this constitution shall authorise an application of the property of the CIO for the purposes which are not charitable.
