THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE TO PRESERVE AND PROTECT THE HEALTH OF THOSE CARING FOR SUFFERERS OF DEMENTIA (AND OTHER DEGENERATIVE MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ILLNESSES) BY:(1) OFFERING A REGULAR, INTERACTIVE AND COMPASSIONATE GROUP TO CARERS IN ORDER TO RELIEVE FEELINGS OF HELPLESSNESS, SOCIAL ISOLATION AND STRESS MANY CARERS SUFFER WITH.(2) DELIVERING SHORT DAY TRIPS AND BREAKS TO CARERS OF DEMENTIA SUFFERS AS A FORM OF RESPITE CARE TO RELIEVE THE CARE BURDEN FROM THE CARER.(3) PROVIDING ADVICE AND SUPPORT TO CARERS THROUGH REGULAR EDUCATIONAL GROUP SESSIONS, ONE-TO-ONE TELEPHONE CONVERSATIONS AND ONLINE WRITTEN ADVICE IN ORDER TO AID CARERS IN THEIR EFFORTS.(4) INCREASING PUBLIC AWARENESS OF THE DIFFICULTY OF CARING FOR SUFFERERS OF DEMENTIA AND PROMOTING THE SERVICES OF THE CHARITY, SPECIFICALLY THE SUPPORT AND ADVICE AVAILABLE, TO THE INCREASING NUMBER OF CARERS OF DEMENTIA SUFFERERS.(5) INCREASING CARER AWARENESS OF THE CHARITABLE CARE OPTIONS AVAILABLE TO CARERS OF DEMENTIA SUFFERS (SUCH AS WEEKEND AND DAY CARE FACILITIES) AND RAISING MONIES FOR SUCH CHARITIES IN THE FORM OF FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES AND GRANTS.NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE CIO FOR THE PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 7 OF THE CHARITIES AND TRUSTEE INVESTMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005 AND SECTION 2 OF THE CHARITIES ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2008.
