3. The CIO’s object is to relieve poverty for the public benefit of the people of ‘The Waterside' (an area to the west of Southampton Water) and The New Forest by providing support and relief to people who are homeless, who are at risk of homelessness, or otherwise vulnerable or marginalised particularly but not exclusively by:a drop-in facility staffed by trained volunteers providing various types of support including but not limited to:a welcoming space to talk with hot drink and maybe a hot mealopportunities for showering and use of a washing machineinternet connectivity, to assist guests in electronic form filling (e.g. Universal Credit) and in accessing further statutory or voluntary supportthe provision of evening hospitality and overnight shelter by using church and other community buildings for temporary overnight accommodation (shelter), initially only through the winter months;engaging with and encouraging church members and other volunteers to work with some of the most vulnerable people on The Waterside and in The New Forest without discrimination, expressing Christian compassion by practical support and in building supportive relationships.working alongside and in cooperation with existing agencies, both statutory and voluntary, who are involved with adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the Waterside and New Forest area, together meeting the needs of these individuals.supporting and encouraging homeless people to move on to appropriate accommodation, resisting dependency on the Shelter by enabling them to work with agencies to secure more permanent accommodation.arranging other events and activities in support of homeless people
