Charitable objects

3.1 The objects of the CIO are for the public benefit:3.1.1 To relieve the needs of people with any special educational needs or disability, and their families/carers, living within the North East of England and the surrounding areas, in particular (but not exclusively) by:3.1.1.1 providing support, education and practical advice and recreational and leisure time activities provided in the interest of social welfare, designed to improve their conditions of life and which develop their skills, capacities and capabilities; 3.1.1.2 advancing the education of the public on awareness of special educational needs and disability;3.1.1.3 providing advocacy for parents/carers who have children with any special educational needs or disability; and 3.1.2 To prevent and relieve poverty of people living within the North East of England and the surrounding areas who are in charitable need, in particular (but not exclusively) by:3.1.2.1 operating a multibank system to provide food parcels, clothing, furniture, household goods and new baby packs; 3.1.2.2 providing advocacy and signposting; and 3.1.2.3 working in partnership with charities and other organisations to re-direct food, clothing and household items otherwise destined for landfill. 3.2 Nothing in this constitution shall authorise an application of the property of the CIO for purposes which are not charitable in accordance with the Charities Act 2011.
