THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE, FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT, TO PRESERVE AND PROTECT THE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH OF PERSONS WITH THE SPINAL CONDITION KNOWN AS SCOLIOSIS AND OTHER SPINAL CONDITIONS, PARTICULARLY BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY:(I) PROVIDING ADVICE, SUPPORT AND INFORMATION TO PEOPLE AFFECTED BY SCOLIOSIS AND OTHER SPINAL CONDITIONS, THEIR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS;(II) RAISING AWARENESS OF SCOLIOSIS AND OTHER SPINAL CONDITIONS AMONG HEALTH PROFESSIONALS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC;(III) MAKING AVAILABLE TO PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS THE EXPERIENCE OF OTHERS WITH SCOLIOSIS AND OTHER SPINAL CONDITIONS;(IV) RAISING AWARENESS ABOUT THE PREVALENCE AND EFFECTS OF SCOLIOSIS AND OTHER SPINAL CONDITIONS;(V) PROMOTING RESEARCH INTO SCOLIOSIS AND OTHER SPINAL CONDITIONS AND MORE PARTICULARLY INTO THEIR CAUSES AND INTO THE CHEST AND HEART CONSEQUENCES THEREOF;(VI) HOLDING THE INTERNATIONAL PHILIP ZORAB SYMPOSIUM, A UNIQUE INTERNATIONAL SCOLIOSIS MEETING, AT A FREQUENCY TO BE DETERMINED BY THE TRUSTEES AND THE ZORAB COMMITTEE CHAIR.NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF SAUK FOR PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 7 OF THE CHARITIES AND TRUSTEE INVESTMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005.
