To promote and protect the mental health and wellbeing of veterans and family members of the British Armed Forces living in England and Wales, for the public benefit.To promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing people from becoming socially excluded through the provision of support services, health and wellbeing activities, education, training, employability programmes and inclusive community initiatives. This includes members of the British Armed Forces Community who are in custody, preparing for release, resettling following release, or at risk of entering the criminal justice system as a result of becoming socially excluded. For the purpose of this clause ?socially excluded? means being excluded from society, or parts of society, as a result of one or more of the following factors: membership of the British Armed Forces Community, unemployment, financial hardship, age, ill health, disability, substance misuse or dependency, discrimination, lack of educational or skills attainment, relationship or family breakdown, social isolation, homelessness, insecure or substandard housing, crime or as a victim of crime. To advance education and promote research, awareness, partnership working and advocacy in relation to the needs of the Armed Forces community, in order to improve outcomes for veterans and their families, regardless of length of service or time since discharge.
