THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS: TO RELIEVE THE NEEDS OF THOSE WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES BY SUPPORTING A COMMUNITY INSPIRED BY THE TEACHINGS OF JEAN VANIER AND THE ETHOS OF THE INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF L’ARCHE COMMUNITIES BY OFFERING FRIENDSHIP AND HOSPITALITY TO PEOPLE WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES AND FOSTERING AND SUPPORTING ACADEMIC RESEARCH AND DISSEMINATING ALL USEFUL RESULTS.NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE CIO FOR THE PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH [SECTION 7 OF THE CHARITIES AND TRUSTEE INVESTMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005] AND [SECTION 2 OF THE CHARITIES ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2008].
