THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT IN THE AREA COMPRISING THE VILLAGE OF CHIPSTEAD IN THE COUNTY OF SURREY AND ITS VICINITY, WHICH AREA SHALL HEREINAFTER BE REFERRED TO AS "THE AREA OF BENEFIT":1) THE CONSERVATION OF THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT AND PRESERVATION OF BUILDINGS OF HERITAGE OR ARCHITECTURAL MERIT, INCLUDING WHERE APPROPRIATE THROUGH THE PURCHASE OF LAND OR BUILDINGS; 2) TO ADVANCE SUCH PURPOSES AS ARE CHARITABLE IN LAW FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE RESIDENTS OF THE AREA OF BENEFIT, INCLUDING BY THE MAKING OF GRANTS OR LOANS TO CHARITIES AND VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS. FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS CLAUSE: • CHARITIES ARE ORGANISATIONS, WHICH ARE ESTABLISHED FOR EXCLUSIVELY CHARITABLE PURPOSES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAW OF ENGLAND AND WALES. • VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS ARE INDEPENDENT ORGANISATIONS, WHICH ARE ESTABLISHED FOR PURPOSES THAT ADD VALUE TO THE COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE, OR A SIGNIFICANT SECTION OF THE COMMUNITY, AND WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED BY THEIR CONSTITUTION TO MAKE A PROFIT FOR PRIVATE DISTRIBUTION.
