3.1 The relief of older people in the Metropolitan District of Leeds and West Yorkshire (the area ofbenefit) and in particular the relief of poverty and the promotion of good healthof older people, primarily, but not exclusively, by associating voluntary,statutory and other agencies and individuals in a support network.3.2 The advancement of the education of older people in the area of benefit inparticular in relation to financial, health, housing, social and welfareentitlements.3.3 The advancement of the education of the public, and promotion of researchconcerning the needs of older people in relation to the provision of communitycare, and the publication of the useful results of such research.3.4 The promotion of the benefit of older people in the area of benefit withoutdistinction of sex or political, religious or other opinion, by associating thestatutory authorities, voluntary organisations and individuals in a commoneffort to provide educational, cultural, social welfare, recreational and leisure-time facilities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for older people.
