THE TRUST'S OBJECTS ("OBJECTS") ARE: (1) THE ADVANCEMENT OF EDUCATION (2) THE ADVANCEMENT OF CULTURE, HERITAGE OR SCIENCE, INCLUDING THE CONSERVATION OF OUR NAVAL MILITARY HERITAGE AND THE ADVANCEMENT OF SUCH CHARITABLE PURPOSES (ACCORDING TO THE LAW OF ENGLAND AND WALES) AS THE TRUSTEES MAY SEE FIT FROM TIME TO TIME (3) THROUGH THE ACQUISITION, RELOCATION TO THE UNITED KINGDOM, CONSERVATION AND ADAPTATION OF THE SHIP HERMES/VIRAAT FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC AS A PUBLIC MEMORIAL TO THE FALKLANDS CONFLICT, AND AS A MUSEUM TELLING THE STORY OF THE FALKLANDS CONFLICT AND THE OPERATIONAL STORY OF THE SHIP WHILE IN THE SERVICE OF THE ROYAL AND INDIAN NAVIES. THE RESEARCH UNDERTAKEN AND EXPERTISE GATHERED IN THE COURSE OF ACQUIRING, RELOCATING, CONSERVING AND ADAPTING THE SHIP WILL BE SHARED WITH OTHER MARITIME CONSERVATION CHARITIES. THE FALKLANDS WAR, AND THE ROLE PLAYED BY HERMES IS LITTLE UNDERSTOOD BY THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND THE CONSERVATION OF THE UKS ONLY SURVIVING HISTORIC AIRCRAFT CARRIER AS A FALKLANDS MEMORIAL AND MUSEUMWILL RAISE PUBLIC AWARENESS AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE IMPORTANCE OF BRITAIN'S NAVAL HERITAGE.
