TO FURTHER AND CO-ORDINATE EDUCATION, TRAINING AND PRACTICE IN THESE DISCIPLINES AND TO FACILITATE THE ACQUISITION, PRESERVATION AND DISSEMINATION OF KNOWLEDGE PERTAINING TO THESE ACTIVITIES;3. TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATIONAL, EARLY CAREER SUPPORT AND RESEARCH ACTIVITIES OF THE INSTITUTE OF MATERIALS, MINERALS AND MINING.NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AND APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE CIO FOR THE PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 7 OF THE CHARITIES AND TRUSTEE INVESTMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005 AND SECTION 2 OF THE CHARITIES ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2008.
