THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE: TO ADVANCE PUBLIC EDUCATION IN BOTANY, HORTICULTURE, ECOLOGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE AT DURHAM UNIVERSITY BOTANIC GARDEN WHICH IS ITSELF A CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR EDUCATION, CONSERVATION AND RESEARCH, AND IN FURTHERANCE OF THE OBJECTS IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY: (1) HOLDING LECTURES, DISCUSSIONS, DEMONSTRATIONS, WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS; (2) HOSTING GUIDED TOURS AND WALKS OF THE GARDEN AND PROMOTING AND ENCOURAGING VISITS AND GUIDED TOURS TO FURTHER THE EDUCATION OF ALL AGE GROUPS: (3) GIVING SUCH HORTICULTURAL AND OPERATIONAL ASSISTANCE TO DURHAM UNIVERSITY BOTANIC GARDEN, AND PRACTICAL ASSISTANCE TO ALL STAFF THROUGH VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES AS THE TRUSTEES SHALL DECIDE; (4) RAISING FUNDS FOR SPECIFIC PROJECTS WITHIN DURHAM UNIVERSITY BOTANIC GARDEN.
