THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE, FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT, THE PROMOTION OF EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY AND IN PARTICULAR: (A) THE PROMOTION OF EQUALITY AND THE ELIMINATION OF DISCRIMINATION ON THE GROUNDS OF SEXUAL ORIENTATION, GENDER IDENTITY AND SEX CHARACTERISTICS; (B) PROMOTING ACTIVITIES TO FOSTER UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN INDIVIDUALS FROM DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS INCLUDING (BUT WITHOUT LIMITATION) LGBTQIA+ PEOPLE; AND (C) CULTIVATING A SENTIMENT IN FAVOUR OF EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY INCLUDING BY RAISING AWARENESS AND SHARING KNOWLEDGE WITH THE GENERAL PUBLIC. FOR THE PURPOSE OF THIS CLAUSE, ?LGBTQIA+? SHALL MEAN INDIVIDUALS WHO IDENTIFY AS LESBIAN, GAY, BI, TRANS, QUEER , INTERSEX AND ASEXUAL, AND ALL THOSE WHO EXPERIENCE DISCRIMINATION ON THE GROUNDS OF THEIR SEXUAL ORIENTATION, GENDER IDENTITY, OR SEX CHARACTERISTICS.NOTHING IN THIS CONSTITUTION SHALL AUTHORISE AN APPLICATION OF THE PROPERTY OF THE CIO FOR THE PURPOSES WHICH ARE NOT CHARITABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 7 OF THE CHARITIES AND TRUSTEE INVESTMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 2005 AND SECTION 2 OF THE CHARITIES ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 2008.
