THE OBJECT OF THE CIO, TO BE CARRIED OUT FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT IN SUCH PARTS OF EAST AND WEST SUSSEX AS THE TRUSTEES SHALL DETERMINE, IS: TO PRESERVE AND PROTECT GOOD HEALTH AND TO RELIEVE THE CHARITABLE NEEDS OF FAMILIES AFFECTED BY NECROTISING ENTEROCOLITIS, AND BABY LOSS DUE TO PREMATURITY, THROUGH SUCH SUPPORT AS THE TRUSTEES DEEM APPROPRIATE,INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:1) WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NHS AND HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS WORKING IN NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNITS, SPECIAL CARE BABY UNITS AND LOCAL NEONATAL UNITS (NICU, SCBU AND LNC) TO SUPPORT IMPROVEMENTS AND BEST PRACTICE IN THE PREVENTION, IDENTIFICATION, DIAGNOSIS AND CARE OF NECROTISING ENTEROCOLITIS, AND TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE FOR CAREGIVERS, TO INCREASE SURVIVAL RATES;2) WORKING WITH THE NHS AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS TO SUPPORTING FAMILIES AFFECTED BY NECROTISING ENTEROCOLITIS EMOTIONALLY AND PRACTICALLY, INCLUDING THROUGH THE PROVISION OF BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT; 3) WORKING WITH ORGANISATIONS TO PROMOTE RESEARCH INTO UNDERSTANDING AND PREVENTING NECROTISING ENTEROCOLITIS, THE USEFUL RESULTS OF WHICH WILL BE PUBLISHED;4) WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH NHS TRUSTS, CHARITIES AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS TO RAISE AWARENESS AND UNDERSTANDING OF PREMATURITY AND NECROTISING ENTEROCOLITIS AND THE REALITY OF LIVING THROUGH THESEEXPERIENCES.
