OBJECTSTHE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE AS FOLLOWS:(1) TO RELIEVE, FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT, THE NEED, SUFFERING, HARDSHIP AND DISTRESS OF MEMBERS AND FORMER MEMBERS OF ALL RANKS OF ALL BRANCHES OF HIS MAJESTY'S ARMED FORCES WHO HAVE SERVED IN AFGHANISTAN AND THEIR CHILDREN, SPOUSES AND DEPENDANTS AND THOSE WHO SUPPORTED THE BRITISH MISSION IN AFGHANISTAN TO INCLUDE, BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO, CIVIL SERVANTS, NATIONALS OF AFGHANISTAN PREVIOUSLY EMPLOYED BY HIS MAJESTY'S GOVERNMENT (SUCH AS LOCALLY EMPLOYED CIVILIAN INTERPRETERS) AND THE AFGHAN SPECIAL FORCES UNITS (THE 'TRIPLES') (TOGETHER, THE 'BENEFICIARIES'), IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY (A) PROVIDING BENEFICIARIES WITH A FORUM TO ACCESS SUPPORT SERVICES; AND (B) POSITIVELY CONTRIBUTING TO THE PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND GENERAL WELL-BEING OF BENEFICIARIES.(2) TO ADVANCE AND PROMOTE GOOD CITIZENSHIP IN THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY THE COMMEMORATION OF THOSE WHO HAVE DIED WHILST ON ACTIVE SERVICE WITH HIS MAJESTY'S ARMED FORCES IN AFGHANISTAN.(3) TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC ON THE SUBJECT OF THE UNITED KINGDOM'S MILITARY INVOLVEMENT IN AFGHANISTAN, IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY PROMOTING RESEARCH FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT IN ALL ASPECTS OF THAT SUBJECT AND TO PUBLISH THE USEFUL RESULTS OF SAID RESEARCH, THEREBY PROMOTING INFORMED PUBLIC DISCOURSE AND DEBATE.
