3.1 THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC BY THE PROMOTION, SUPPORT, ASSISTANCE AND IMPROVEMENT OF LAMBETH PALACE LIBRARY ("THE LIBRARY"), IN PARTICULAR, BUT WITHOUT PREJUDICE TO THE GENERALITY OF THE FOREGOING, BY:3.1.1 SUPPORTING THE WORK OF THE LIBRARY AS THE MAIN SPECIAL PUBLIC LIBRARY AND ARCHIVE FOR MATERIAL ON THE HISTORY AND AFFAIRS OF THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND AND AS AN INSTITUTION OF SCHOLARLY DISTINCTION AND INTELLECTUAL INTEGRITY; AND3.1.2 PROVIDING GRANTS TO SUPPORT THE LIBRARY IN: THE ACQUISITION OF PRINTED BOOKS, MANUSCRIPTS AND OTHER ITEMS APPROPRIATE FOR THE LIBRARY; THE CONSERVATION, CATALOGUING AND DIGITISATION OF THE COLLECTION; SCHOLARSHIP AND RESEARCH; EXHIBITIONS, EDUCATION AND PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT, PROMOTING THE WORK OF THE LIBRARY AND FUNDRAISING; AND TO HELP THE LIBRARY IN ANY OTHER SUITABLE WAY.
