THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE:(A) TO DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN THE SAINT AELRED'S PILGRIM TRAIL ('THE TRAIL') AS A LONG-DISTANCE PUBLIC FOOTPATH AND MULTI-USE TRAIL, SO SECURING THE TRAIL AS A PUBLIC AMENITY AND A FACILITY FOR RECREATION AND OTHER LEISURE-TIMEOCCUPATION IN THE INTERESTS OF SOCIAL WELFARE WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THE CONDITIONS OF LIFE FOR THE PUBLIC AT LARGE, INCLUDING WALKERS, CYCLISTS AND EQUESTRIANS.(B) TO ADVANCE THE CHRISTIAN FAITH, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DOCTRINES OF THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND AND THE METHODIST CHURCH, IN SUCH WAYS AS THE TRUSTEES SHALL DETERMINE AND IN PARTICULAR THROUGH THE PROVISION OF ORGANISED OPPORTUNITIES TO ENGAGE THE PUBLIC IN PILGRIMAGE, PRAYER AND SPIRITUAL CONTEMPLATION INVOLVING CHURCHES ALONG THE SAINT AELRED'SPILGRIM TRAIL.(C) TO PRESERVE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC THE HISTORICAL, ARCHITECTURAL AND CONSTRUCTIONAL HERITAGE AND FIXTURES AND FITTINGS OF CHURCHES WORTHY OF MERIT FOR PRESERVATION ALONG THE SAINT AELRED'S PILGRIM TRAIL, THROUGH THE MAKING OF DONATIONS AND GRANTS TO REGISTERED CHARITIES AND PAROCHIAL CHURCH COUNCILS RESPONSIBLE FOR UNDERTAKING NECESSARY PRESERVATION WORK.
