3 THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO (THE "OBJECTS") ARE:3.1 TO PROMOTE THE EFFICIENCY OF THE ROYAL ARMY MEDICAL SERVICE ("RAMS") IN PARTICULAR AND MORE GENERALLY THE WIDER ARMY AND H M ARMED FORCES THROUGH:3.1.1 MAINTAINING CONTACT BETWEEN PAST AND PRESENT MEMBERS OF THE RAMS AND ITS UNITS.3.1.2 ENCOURAGING ESPRIT DE CORPS, COMRADESHIP, AND WELFARE. 3.1.3 PROMOTING, FOSTERING, AND SUPPORTING THE TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE OF MEMBERS OF THE RAMS THROUGH THE PROVISION OF EDUCATIONAL AND ACADEMIC RESOURCES, COMPETITIONS, AND PRIZES, BY ENCOURAGING MILITARY MEDICAL RESEARCH AND IN SUCH OTHER WAYS AS ARE CHARITABLE AS THE TRUSTEES MAY FROM TIME TO TIME DECIDE. 3.1.4 PERPETUATING THE DEEDS AND PRESERVING THE TRADITIONS OF THE RAMS (INCLUDING ITS ANTECEDENT CORPS).3.1.5 PROMOTING AND SUPPORTING THE MENTAL AND PHYSICAL FITNESS OF MEMBERS OF THE RAMS THROUGH THE PROVISION OF SPORTING FACILITIES, EQUIPMENT, AND SPORTING COMPETITIONS.3.1.6 SUPPORTING MESSES (OFFICERS AND NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICERS) AND INSTITUTES (OTHER RANKS), INCLUDING THE PROVISION AND MAINTENANCE OF CHATTELS.3.2 TO PROTECT AND PROMOTE THE HERITAGE OF THE RAMS (INCLUDING ITS ANTECEDENT CORPS), TO MAINTAIN COMRADESHIP AND FRIENDSHIP, AND TO COMMEMORATE AND REMEMBER THOSE MEMBERS OR FORMER MEMBERS OF THE RAMS (INCLUDING ITS ANTECEDENT CORPS) WHO LOST THEIR LIVES OR SUFFERED INJURY IN SERVICE TO THE PUBLIC.3.3 TO RELIEVE PAST OR PRESENT MEMBERS OF THE RAMS (INCLUDING ITS ANTECEDENT CORPS) AND THEIR FINANCIAL DEPENDANTS, WHO ARE IN NEED BY VIRTUE OF FINANCIAL HARDSHIP, SICKNESS, OR DISABILITY, THROUGH THE PROVISION OF GRANTS, LOANS, GIFTS OR OTHERWISE.
