THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE, FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT:1.TO ADVANCE EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN THE FIELDS OF ENGINEERING, MANUFACTURING, AND ASSOCIATED TECHNOLOGIES, INCLUDING SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, AND MATHEMATICS (STEM), IN SUCH WAYS AS THE CHARITY TRUSTEES DECIDE, INCLUDING (BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY) BY:(A) PROVIDING OR ASSISTING IN THE PROVISION OF FORMAL AND INFORMAL INSTRUCTION, PRACTICAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENT, AND WITH A VIEW TO PARTICIPANTS GAINING ACCREDITED QUALIFICATIONS;(B) PROVIDING GRANTS, BURSARIES, AND SCHOLARSHIPS TO INDIVIDUALS IN FINANCIAL HARDSHIP WHO COULD NOT OTHERWISE AFFORD TO UNDERTAKE TRAINING OR EDUCATION IN ENGINEERING OR MANUFACTURING DISCIPLINES;(C) ESTABLISHING AND OPERATING TRAINING CENTRES AND EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES DEDICATED TO THE TEACHING OF PRACTICAL ENGINEERING, MANUFACTURING, AND TECHNICAL SKILLS; AND(D) PROMOTING OR ASSISTING IN THE PROMOTION OF RESEARCH INTO BEST PRACTICES IN TECHNICAL EDUCATION, SKILLS DEVELOPMENT, AND EMPLOYMENT ACCESS IN RELATION TO ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING, AND TO DISSEMINATE THE USEFUL RESULTS OF SUCH RESEARCH TO THE PUBLIC.2.THE RELIEF OF UNEMPLOYMENT FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC IN SUCH WAYS AS MAY BE THOUGHT FIT, INCLUDING ASSISTANCE TO FIND EMPLOYMENT, IN PARTICULAR IN ENGINEERING, MANUFACTURING AND RELATED INDUSTRIES, INCLUDING BY:(A) PROVIDING OR ASSISTING IN THE PROVISION OF EMPLOYMENT PLACEMENTS, RETRAINING OPPORTUNITIES, AND STRUCTURED APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMMES AND OTHER FORMS OF TRAINING AND PRACTICAL ASSISTANCE TO UNEMPLOYED PEOPLE IN COLLABORATION WITH EMPLOYERS, ALIGNED WITH INDUSTRY NEEDS; AND(B) PROVIDING OR ASSISTING IN THE PROVISION OF LAND OR BUILDINGS AT BELOW-MARKET OR SUBSIDISED RENTS, SHARED EQUIPMENT AND RESOURCES, AND BUSINESS MENTORING SERVICES TO UNEMPLOYED INDIVIDUALS TO ASSIST THEM TO START UP THEIR OWN BUSINESSES IN THE ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING SECTORS.3. FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT TO RELIEVE THE NEEDS OF THOSE IN NEED BY REASON OF FINANCIAL HARDSHIP OR POVERTY, PRIMARILY THROUGH PRACTICAL SUPPORT, TRAINING AND ADVICE WITH ACCESSING SECURE EMPLOYMENT IN ENGINEERING, MANUFACTURING AND ASSOCIATED TECHNOLOGIES IN ORDER TO GENERATE A SUSTAINABLE INCOME AND BE SELF-SUFFICIENT.
