THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO, FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT, ARE:1. TO PROMOTE SOCIAL INCLUSION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY PREVENTING PEOPLE FROM BECOMING SOCIALLY EXCLUDED, RELIEVING THE NEEDS OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO ARE SOCIALLY EXCLUDED AND ASSISTING THEM TO INTEGRATE INTO SOCIETY, IN PARTICULAR BY PROVIDING REFURBISHED TECHNOLOGY, EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS ON DIGITAL SKILLS, VOLUNTEER AND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES, AND BY PROMOTING RESEARCH ON DIGITAL INCLUSION AND ENSURING THE USEFUL RESULTS OF SUCH RESEARCH ARE PUBLISHED.FOR THE PURPOSE OF THIS CLAUSE ‘SOCIALLY EXCLUDED’ MEANS BEING EXCLUDED FROM SOCIETY, OR PARTS OF SOCIETY, AS A RESULT OF ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING FACTORS: UNEMPLOYMENT; POVERTY OR FINANCIAL HARDSHIP; YOUTH OR OLD AGE; ILL HEALTH (PHYSICAL OR MENTAL); POOR EDUCATIONAL OR SKILLS ATTAINMENT; CRIME (EITHER AS A VICTIM OF CRIME OR AS AN OFFENDER REHABILITATING INTO SOCIETY).2. THE PREVENTION OF CYBER-CRIME AND IDENTITY THEFT THROUGH FREE OR LOW COST, AND SECURE COLLECTION AND DATA-ERASURE OF DATA-BEARING DEVICES.3. THE PROTECTION AND PRESERVATION OF THE ENVIRONMENT FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY:A. THE PROMOTION OF WASTE REDUCTION, RE-USE, RECLAMATION, RECYCLING, AND THE USE OF RECYCLED PRODUCTS;B. ADVANCING THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC ABOUT ALL ASPECTS OF A CIRCULAR ECONOMY, WASTE GENERATION, WASTE MANAGEMENT AND WASTE RECYCLING.
