THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS:TO PROMOTE EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT AND IN PARTICULAR THE ELIMINATION OF DISCRIMINATION ON THE GROUNDS OF SEXUAL ORIENTATION OR GENDER IDENTITY, IN THURROCK AND THE SURROUNDING AREA, IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY BY:A) ORGANISING AND PROMOTING EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO CELEBRATE THE LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL, TRANS, INTERSEX, QUEER, QUESTIONING (LGBTQ+) COMMUNITY AND RAISE AWARENESS OF DISCRIMINATION AND OTHER ISSUES AFFECTING THE LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY AND THE ADVANCEMENT OF LGBTQ+ RIGHTS;B) ORGANISING AN ANNUAL FESTIVAL CELEBRATING THE LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY AND PROVIDING A SPACE FOR DISCUSSION AND ADVANCEMENT OF LGBTQ+ RIGHTS;C) RAISING AWARENESS WITH THE PUBLIC OF THE LGBTQ+ EXPERIENCE, IN PARTICULAR THE ASPECTS OF DISCRIMINATION AND THE DIFFICULTIES FACED BY LGBTQ+ PEOPLE;D) ASSOCIATING WITH OTHER ORGANISATIONS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TOGOVERNMENT, CHARITIES, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE ORGANISATIONS, AND VOLUNTEERING ORGANISATIONS, AS APPROPRIATE FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF LGBTQ+ EQUALITY.
