THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO IS AS FOLLOWS: TO PROMOTE SOCIAL INCLUSION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT BY PREVENTING PEOPLE FROM BECOMING SOCIALLY EXCLUDED, RELIEVING THE NEEDS OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO ARE SOCIALLY EXCLUDED AND ASSISTING THEM TO INTEGRATE INTO SOCIETY, IN PARTICULAR BY PROVIDING DIGITAL SKILLS TRAINING AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT DESIGNED TO ADDRESS DIGITAL EXCLUSION AND A LACK OF SKILLS OR CONFIDENCE IN USING DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY WHERE THAT REPRESENTS A BARRIER TO COMMUNICATION AND INCLUSION IN SOCIETY. FOR THE PURPOSE OF THIS CLAUSE ‘SOCIALLY EXCLUDED’ MEANS BEING EXCLUDED FROM SOCIETY, OR PART OF SOCIETY, AS A RESULT OF BEING A MEMBER OF A SOCIALLY AND ECONOMICALLY DEPRIVED COMMUNITY.
