TO ADVANCE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC IN THE APPRECIATION OF THE ART AND SCIENCE OF THE MAGIC LANTERN AND RELATED OPTICAL MEDIA BY REVIVING, SUSTAINING AND PROMOTING THEIR STUDY, PERFORMANCE, PRESERVATION AND KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE WORLDWIDE.IN FURTHERANCE OF THESE OBJECTS THE CIO MAY:(1) ENCOURAGE THE ARRANGEMENT AND PRESENTATION OF MAGIC LANTERN SHOWS AND OTHER OPTICAL ENTERTAINMENTS.(2) EXCHANGE KNOWLEDGE, CO-ORDINATE RESEARCH AND DISSEMINATE INFORMATION BOTH WITHIN THE CIO AND TO THE WIDER PUBLIC, AND TO DEVELOP AN EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT ROLE WITHIN THE COMMUNITY AT LARGE.(3) ENCOURAGE AND PERPETUATE THE PRESERVATION OF APPARATUS, MATERIALS, AND RECORDINGS OF MEETINGS AND PRESENTATIONS, AND TO EXAMINE, DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT APPROPRIATE CONSERVATION TECHNIQUES FOR THAT PURPOSE.(4) ENCOURAGE THE CATALOGUING, EXHIBITION AND ARCHIVING OF EXISTING AND FUTURE MATERIAL RELATING TO OPTICAL MEDIA.(5) FACILITATE AND PRODUCE PUBLICATIONS, IN ANY APPROPRIATE FORM, WHICH SUPPORT THESE OBJECTS.(6) OFFER GRANTS AND BURSARIES TO FACILITATE WORK IN SUPPORT OF THESE OBJECTS.(7) COLLABORATE WITH ORGANISATIONS AND INDIVIDUALS HAVING SIMILAR INTERESTS AND OBJECTIVES THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.
