Charitable objects

The objects of the charity are, for the benefit of the public, the relief of financial hardship by (a) the provision of almshouse and other social housing accommodation in Chichester, and such ancillary equipment, services and financial relief and, without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, contributions to the costs of accommodation and medical and nursing care, as the trustees see fit for the benefit of the residents; and (b) the making of charitable grants or payments for the relief of persons in the Area of Benefit in particular in relation to their housing needs. The Area of Benefit of the charity shall be any area within the Diocese of Chichester which is not more than 15 miles in a straight line from the Cathedral Church of Chichester, with a preference for the City of Chichester (?Area of Benefit?), or such closely adjoining area subject to the discretion of Trustees.
