1. The objects for which the Company is established are: (a) To protect and enhance the rare and diverse collection of plants, trees and shrubs at Borde Hill for the public benefit by purchasing plants, fertilisers, stock, tools or equipment. (b) To promote and improve the knowledge, practice and understanding of the study and science of botany and horticulture, including propagation, the preservation of the listed heritage parkland and related flora and fauna, our natural environment, and practices to minimise the wider environmental impact for the public benefit by providing information in particular but not exclusively through online media, published guides, booklets and other publications. (c) To connect communities with the restorative power of nature for the public benefit to improve their mental and physical well-being by providing suitable places for the public to enjoy. (d) To achieve and support these aims and objectives by managing, improving and operating within the Borde Hill Estate, primarily the Heritage listed Garden and Parkland, or other landscapes in other parts of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for the public benefit.(e) To employ or contract workers, consultants or advisors upon such terms as the Company may think fit from time to time.(f) To create and operate any buildings and facilities for education, recreation and other leisure and activities for the public benefit. (g) To purchase, take on lease or in exchange, hire or otherwise acquire any real or personal property and any rights or privileges which the Company may think necessary or convenient for the promotion of its objects, and to construct, maintain and alter any buildings or erections necessary or convenient for the work of the Company.(h) To carry out any improvements repairs or work in or on the land of the Company or other buildings or works in connection with the use of land of the Company.(i) To make from time to time Byelaws as to the days and times at which and the conditions on which the public shall be admitted to land of the Company and to vary or rescind any byelaws for the time being in force may impose reasonable charges for admission and reasonable limits on the number of persons to be admitted at any one time and may contain such other regulations and restrictions as the Company may consider necessary or proper for the due preservation and management of the land of the Company and the trees and plants therein and thereon.(j) To accept or refuse any gifts devise or bequest of land investments or money for any of the purposes of the Company.(k) To sell, let, mortgage, dispose of or turn to account all or any of the property or assets of the Company as may be thought expedient with a view to the promotion of its objects.(l) To undertake and execute any charitable trusts which may lawfully be undertaken by the Company and may be necessary to its objects.(m) To borrow or raise money for the purposes of the Company on such terms and on such security as may be thought fit.(n) To invest the moneys of the Company not immediately required for its purposes in or upon such investments, securities or property as may be thought fit, by the Board of the Company.(o) To establish and support or aid in the establishment and support of any charitable associations or institutions and to subscribe or guarantee money for charitable purposes in any way connected with the purposes of the Company or calculated to further its objects.(p) To do all such other things as are necessary to the attainment of the above objects or any of them.(q) To pay gratuities or pensions to ex-employees of the Company or their dependants.
