(1) TO RELIEVE IN CASES OF NEED IN EITHER OR BOTH OF THE FOLLOWING WAYS CHILDREN AND YOUNG PERSONS WHO ARE ORDINARILY RESIDENT IN THE METROPOLITAN DISTRICT OF THE CITY OF BRADFORD WITH A PREFERENCE FOR BOYS SO RESIDENT AT LEAST ONE OF WHOSE PARENTS HAS DIED: (A) FOR RELIEF IN NEED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS HEREINAFTER CONTAINED. (B) FOR THE PROMOTION OF EDUCATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS HEREINAFTER CONTAINED (2). (A) TO RELIEVE EITHER GENERALLY OR INDIVIDUALLY PERSONS QUALIFIED AS AFORESAID BY MAKING GRANTS OF MONEY OR PROVIDING OR PAYING FOR ITEMS, SERVICES, OR FACILITIES CALCULATED TO REDUCE THE NEED, HARDSHIP OR DISTRESS OF SUCH PERSONS. (B) THE TRUSTEES MAY PAY FOR SUCH ITEMS SERVICES OR FACILITIES BY WAY OF DONATIONS OR SUBSCRIPTIONS TO INSTITUTIONS OR ORGANISATIONS WHICH PROVIDE OR WHICH UNDERTAKE IN RETURN TO PROVIDE SUCH ITEMS, SERVICES OR FACILITIES (FOR FURTHER DETAILS PLEASE SEE CLAUSE 22 OF SCHEME) (3) TO PROMOTE EDUCATION IN ONE OR BOTH OF THE FOLLOWING WAYS OR IN SUCH OTHER WAYS AS THE TRUSTEES THINK FIT:- (A) IN AWARDING SCHOLARSHIPS, EXHIBITIONS, BURSARIES, MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCES OR GRANTS TENABLE AT ANY SCHOOL, UNIVERSITY, COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, OR OTHER INSTITUTION OF FURTHER (INCLUDING PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNICAL) EDUCATION APPROVED FOR THE PURPOSE BY THE TRUSTEES; (B) TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, OUTFITS, CLOTHING, TOOLS, INSTRUMENTS OR BOOKS TO ASSIST PERSONS TO PURSUE THEIR EDUCATION (INCLUDING THE STUDY OF MUSIC AND OTHER ARTS) TO UNDERTAKE TRAVEL IN FURTHERANCE THEREOF, OR TO PREPARE FOR OR ENTER A PROFESSION, TRADE, OCCUPATION OR SERVICE ON LEAVING SCHOOL, UNIVERSITY, OR OTHER EDUCATIONAL ESTABLISHMENT
