THE MONIES OF THE FOUNDATION AS DESCRIBED IN CLAUSE 3.1 SHALL BE APPLIED BY THE MANCHESTER LAW SOCIETY IN THE FURTHERANCE OF THE LEGAL EDUCATION, DEVELOPMENT AND THE ADVANCEMENT IN LIFE OF PERSONS WHO ARE EITHER:(A) RESIDENT IN MANCHESTER, SALFORD OR THE NEIGHBOURHOOD THEREOF, AND HAVE BEEN RESIDENT FOR AT LEAST THE LAST 5 YEARS, AND WHO ARE ACTIVELY PURSUING A CAREER WITH THE ULTIMATE AIM OF PRACTISING AS A QUALIFIED SOLICITOR OR BARRISTER; OR(B) PERSONS WHO ARE ACTIVELY PURSUING A CAREER WITH THE ULTIMATE AIM OF PRACTISING AS A QUALIFIED SOLICITOR OR BARRISTER PRIMARILY WORKING IN MANCHESTER, SALFORD OR THE NEIGHBOURHOOD THEREOF,IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING WAYS: (A) THE AWARD OF PRIZES, EXHIBITIONS AND SCHOLARSHIPS; (B) THE PAYMENT OF FEES OR TRAVELLING OR MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCES; (C) THE PROVISIONS OF BOOKS AND OTHER MATERIALS; AND (D) MAKING SUCH OTHER PROVISIONS AS THE SOCIETY MAY THINK FIT.
