3.1 THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE:3.1.1 FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT TO ASSIST, PROMOTE AND PROTECT THE HEALTH OF BENEFICIARIES BY:(A) PROMOTION OF BEST PRACTICE IN THE MANAGEMENT AND ENHANCEMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING;(B) PROMOTION OF SUSTAINABLE MENTAL FITNESS, COGNITIVE RESILIENCE AND MINDFULNESS SKILLS;(C) PROVISION OF FACILITIES AND RESOURCES FOR CARE, TREATMENT, RESPITE AND RECUPERATION;(D) PROMOTION OF FAMILY COHESION AND SUPPORT AND SOCIAL INCLUSION;(E) PROMOTION OF RESEARCH INTO ISSUES AND CONDITIONS RELATING TO MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING; AND(F) MAKING GRANTS TO CHARITIES AND OTHER ORGANISATIONS UNDERTAKING ANY OF THESE ACTIVITIES.3.1.2 THE RELIEF OF BENEFICIARIES WHO ARE IN NEED BECAUSE OF ILL-HEALTH, DISABILITY, FINANCIAL HARDSHIP OR OTHER DISADVANTAGE.3.1.3 FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT TO ADVANCE CITIZENSHIP BY PROMOTING THE EFFICIENCY OF THE ARMED FORCES OF THE CROWN AND OF CROWN SERVANTS.3.2 IN THIS CLAUSE "BENEFICIARIES" MEANS:3.2.1 PERSONS CURRENTLY SERVING OR WHO HAVE SERVED IN, OR IN CONJUNCTION WITH, OR WHO ARE OTHERWISE CONNECTED WITH, THE ARMED FORCES OF THE CROWN;3.2.2 PERSONS WHO HAVE SERVED THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED KINGDOM IN SOME OTHER WAY IN ORDER TO PROTECT THE COUNTRY'S NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL INTERESTS; AND3.2.3 THEIR IMMEDIATE FAMILY, THEIR DEPENDANTS AND CARERS.
