THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT TO RELIEVE THE NEEDS OF PEOPLE WITH DOWN SYNDROME, THEIR FAMILIES AND CARERS, IN YORK IN PARTICULAR BY: (A)OFFERING PERSONAL SUPPORT TO NEW PARENTS OR PARENTS WITH AN ANTENATAL DIAGNOSIS;(B)HOSTING A MONTHLY SESSION (THE 3-21 SATURDAY CLUB) WHERE FAMILIES CAN COME TOGETHER TO TALK AND PLAY;(C)THE PROVISION OF WEEKLY EARLY DEVELOPMENT GROUP’S FOR CHILDREN FROM BIRTH TO PRE-SCHOOL DELIVERED BY TRAINED PROFESSIONALS;(D)THE PROVISION OF CHATTERBOX SESSIONS (WEEKLY SPEECH AND LANGUAGE GROUPS) DELIVERED BY TRAINED PROFESSIONALS TO IMPROVE SPEECH;(E)SUPPORTING RESEARCH THAT IS DEDICATED TO ANY ASPECT OF LIVING WITH DOWN SYNDROME, AND;(F)RAISING AWARENESS OF DOWN SYNDROME AND PROVIDING EDUCATION, INFORMATION, SUPPORT AND TRAINING IN THE SPECIFIC NEEDS AND ABILITIES OF PEOPLE WITH DOWN SYNDROME FOR THEIR PARENTS/CARERS AND PROFESSIONALS.
