THE OBJECTS OF THE CIO ARE TO FURTHER SUCH CHARITABLE PURPOSES (ACCORDING TO THE LAW OF ENGLAND AND WALES) AS THE CHARITY TRUSTEES SHALL IN THEIR DISCRETION THINK FIT AND IN PARTICULAR (BUT SO AS IN NO WAY TO LIMIT OR CONFINE THE DISCRETION OF THE TRUSTEES):3.1 TO PROMOTE THE CONSERVATION AND PRESERVATION OF HISTORIC BUILDINGS, MEMORIALS, COLLECTIONS, OBJECTS AND DESIGNED LANDSCAPES, PARTICULARLY THOSE WHICH DATE FROM THE GEORGIAN PERIOD OR EARLIER, THROUGH THE PROVISION OF GRANTS FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT; 3.2 TO ADVANCE ARTS AND CULTURE BY PROVIDING FINANCIAL GRANTS IN SUPPORT OF THE PERFORMING ARTS; AND3.3 TO ADVANCE EDUCATION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT THROUGH THE PROVISION OF:3.3.1 FUNDING FOR SCHOLARSHIPS, PRIZES, BURSARIES, APPRENTICESHIPS AND OTHER FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO INDIVIDUALS; AND3.3.2 GRANTS TO ORGANISATIONS SUCH AS UNIVERSITIES, COLLEGES, MUSEUMS, GALLERIES AND OTHER REGISTERED CHARITIES TO SUPPORT ACADEMIC RESEARCH, TRAINING COURSES AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW AREAS OF STUDYPARTICULARLY IN RESPECT OF FIELDS SUCH AS ARTS, CRAFTS, CULTURE, HERITAGE AND CONSERVATION.
