THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS, FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT, THE RELIEF OF THOSE SUFFERING WITH SCN8A AND THEIR FAMILIES, IN PARTICULAR THROUGH: 1) FUNDING RESEARCH INTO SCN8A AND OTHER RELATED SODIUM CHANNEL EPILEPSIES AND COMMUNICATING THE RESULTS OF SUCH RESEARCH TO OUR COMMUNITY. 2) RAISING AWARENESS OF SCN8A AND ADVANCING THE EDUCATION OF THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY IN THE SUBJECT OF SCN8A THEREFORE PROMPTING ACCURATE AND EARLY DIAGNOSIS OF THE CONDITION. 3) PROMOTING THE PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH OF THOSE SUFFERING FROM SCN8A AND THEIR FAMILIES THROUGH THE PROVISION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, SUPPORT , EDUCATION AND PRACTICAL ADVICE.
