THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS:3.1.1 TO PROMOTE SOCIAL INCLUSION FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT IN THE SOUTH-WEST OF ENGLAND BY PREVENTING PEOPLE AGED 18 AND OVER WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES FROM BECOMING SOCIALLY EXCLUDED, RELIEVING THEIR NEEDS AND ASSISTING THEM TO INTEGRATE INTO SOCIETY, IN PARTICULAR THROUGH THE PROVISION OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, GUIDANCE AND SUPPORT DESIGNED TO INCREASE THEIR CONFIDENCE, SKILLSAND OPPORTUNITIES TO ACQUIRE AND MAINTAIN SUITABLE AND SATISFYING EMPLOYMENT, AND BY:(A) RAISING PUBLIC AWARENESS, IN PARTICULAR AMONGST EMPLOYERS, OF THE DIFFICULTIES FACED BY PERSONS WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES IN ACQUIRING AND MAINTAINING EMPLOYMENT AND THE MEASURES WHICH MAY BE TAKEN ALLEVIATE SUCH DIFFICULTIES;(B) PROVIDING WORKSHOPS, FORUMS, ADVOCACY AND GENERAL SUPPORT FOR PEOPLE WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES AND THEIR FAMILIES;(C) PROVIDING RECREATIONAL FACILITIES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES AND THEIR FAMILIES.
