People matched across registers, the confirmed board overlaps, and the shortest evidenced path between two records.

I need to know who sits on both a charity board and a company board, how that match is made, and how far the path-finding reaches.

How it works

Step by step, on real recordsiEach example below is live from the public register, not a mock-up.

  1. 1

    See a confirmed overlap

The linked graph holds dated overlaps between charity trustees and company officers. The data licensing page counts them live, alongside the number of charity trustees checked. Overlaps are confirmed matches only, never inferred from name similarity alone.

  2. 2

See a path between two records

The connections endpoint returns the shortest evidenced path between two records. This is one on the website: Tesco PLC to Nuffield Health through a person on both boards, with the role and year at each step.

  3. 3

    Know what the paths cover

Paths currently cover UK charities, companies (confirmed board overlaps only) and academy trusts and schools. NHS, councils and public appointments are not wired into the connections endpoint, and the response says so. There is no changes endpoint in version 1: it returns 501 with an explanation instead of a partial answer.

What is open and what needs an account. Shared directors and organisation networks are open on the website. Person records through the API use prefixes by source (trustee, schoolgov, pubappt, councillor, nhsboard). We will not license bulk personal data for re-identification, profiling or marketing.

Sources, matching and privacy

Official sources

Board and officer records from the Charity Commission, OSCR, the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland, Companies House and the Department for Education, with other public registers named on each record. Every fact shows its register and date.

How we handle data

Careful matching

Records are joined into one person only where our identity-matching rules support it. Confirmed relationships are supported by the approved evidence and rules. Likely relationships are shown with the label “Likely the same person”. Connections are calculated here and labelled as calculated.

Methodology

Private by default

Nobody is told you looked them up. Viewing, searching and saving are private. Near Me lists organisations only, never where people live, and nothing a person types becomes an official fact.
